I read through the website and everything and love what i hear and everything as i love combat and that. My friend though doesn't like to combat all the time and was wondering if theres much non-combat stuff to do in the game?

I suppose you'd have to quantify 'much' for my next statement to make much sense.

GW is a game that is certainyl based on combat. I have, however, had the opportunity to venture through some of the explorable areas without fighting any monsters at all. It is difficult, but it makes for a special challenge all on it's own.

The things is, if your friend is looking for non-combat, about the only thing he will be able to do is wander explorable areas (which I like to do myself from time to time) or stay in cities and outposts and chat.

Some explorable areas are very densely populated with creatures, though, and this makes a non-combat exploration nearly impossible. It seems that Anet has been increasing the number of creatures in the explorable areas with each BWE. It can still be done, but your friend may have to simply use a Sprint-like skill to run past the creatures before he can begin his explorations.

The pre-searing portion of the game does give you much more opportunity for this type of gaming though. There the creatures are not as likely to aggro. In fact, I tested this a bit, and found that the majority of creatures will let you actually walk right into them without agrroing unless you attack. The quests and such provide ample opportunity in the pre-searing portion for non-combat gaming, but htere are some quests that are combat-based (such as kill the Bog Skale army etc...).

So to sum it up, I'd say yeah, there are non-combat opportunities to enjoy the game with, especially in pre-searing Ascalon, but you have to work to find them after the searing.

I'd direct your friend to this game instead of Guild Wars.

Wise choice. There are few games like it.
